Anna Stone - LPC Supervisee
My name is Anna Stone, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisee. This means I have completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at South Dakota State University (SDSU) and perform the duties of a counselor under the supervision of a licensed professional until I have accrued enough hours for my own licensure. I have worked in the field of mental health in a different capacity for about 4 years at Lost&Found, a suicide prevention non-profit, where I worked on college campuses to improve mental well-being and connection in a variety of ways, and as a counseling intern and LPC-Supervisee at At Ease Counseling. I enjoy working with all types of people and have experience with those with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, grief, anger, identity concerns, LGBTQIA+2S, trauma, and boundary setting.
I grew up in a small town in western South Dakota. In my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading as much as possible, listening to music, bingeing every good Netflix show, and (hopefully) winning every board and card game I can. I really enjoy a good craft and would love to help clients bring more art (in any form) into therapy sessions.
While I always knew I wanted to help people, I wasn’t sure exactly what that would look like for me growing up. I found my personal motivation for mental health in my undergrad through classes and my own life experiences and eventually started mentoring other college students and got the opportunity to start helping in a one-on-one setting. From there I applied to the counseling program and have grown into my passion for helping people on their mental health journey.
I primarily use evidence-based practices with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), however, I also tend to pull in aspects of humanistic and feminist approaches.
I believe in the power of a safe space to tell your story without judgement. For me, counseling is a collaborative process that allows your journey to be individualized to be as successful as possible. My counseling style is built off of understanding, compassion, and respect. My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship that allows you to bring your authentic self to our sessions and helps you reach your goals.
